Drilling for Oil

This is Robert Scirocco bringing you today's Law Bit.
U.S. lawsuits don’t just stop at nation’s borders. The U.S. House of Representatives by a big majority a few weeks ago voted to permit the justice department to sue Opec for manipulating oil supplies and prices. This comes on the heels of George Bush going to the middle east to beg the Saudis to produce and sell more oil to America. The Saudis said no.
Politicians in this country are people of principle. And the number one principle that is held by many, including both candidates for president, is that America should not explore or drill for new oil anywhere in the country… In other words, even though the oil is here, waiting to be tapped we must remain at the mercy of other countries to sell it to us.
But there is hope. Cuba and the Chinese have just begun drilling sixty miles off the coast of Florida. Maybe, if we ask them nicely, these communist countries will share some of their oil with us.
This is Robert Scirocco, Attorney at Law, Budd Lake, New Jersey, bringing you today's Law Bit.
