This is Robert Scirocco bringing you today's Law Bit.
What if an individual working for a legitimate company begins emailing naked pictures of his young step-daughter to others? Can a company where he works be held liable for monetary damages if a lawsuit is brought on the young girl's behalf? A New Jersey Appeals Court recently said yes. It is illegal to transfer child pornography over the Internet and, in this case, the Court ruled that a lawsuit against the sexual predator could go forward against his employer. The rule is a company in certain instances bares the responsibility of protecting innocent people from dangerous employees, such as sexual predators.
